Church Basement Ladies 2, A Second Helping, a sequel to the wildly successful Church Basement Ladies, opened recently in Minneapolis and is receiving even louder rave reviews. Key to the success of these two plays — based on the books of Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson — is the the musical and acting ability of the cast, and prime among them is Janet Paone who plays the role of every Church Basement's Matriarch, The Widow Snustad: an endearing character reminiscent of everyone's Grandmother if we had Grandmothers who were in their early 40s!

Last November Janet received a kidney from fellow actor, John Vaughn, and an evening of fun and fundraising dubbed the KIDNEY KABARET will be held at Augsburg College on April 21. Rural Route Bookstore is proud to be a participant in this benefit. Twenty-five percent of all online sales of Caragana and Martin House products made at Rural Route Bookstore between April 7 and Mother's Day (May 11), 2008 will go directly to the Janet Paone Transplant Fund.
